Winter is always difficult mostly due to timings. Winter holidays are usually spent at home, with the family, and the idea of shaking that balance during Christmas is discouraging a move.

 

Similarly for summer, with children off school or as families take time off to enjoy holidays or travelling abroad.

CURB APPEAL

Focus on the curb appeal, as the first thing a potential buyer sees is the exterior of your property. Before even listing your home on the market, dedicate some time on upgrading the exterior to improve its ‘curb appeal’. 

It doesn’t have to a huge expense if you pay attention to the details. Here are a few suggestions:

  • Paint the front door and potentially the front wall
  • Power wash the windows
  • Power wash the exterior and external fixtures (decks, patios)
  • Plant flowers or add greenery
  • Replace the mailbox

STAGING

AIM FOR DECOR THAT ELEVATES THE STYLE OF YOUR PROPERTY

Clean up your interior and remove personal items. While family photographs and cluttered books might give a sense of homeliness and soul, it does make it difficult for prospective buyers to envisage themselves living in it and making it their own.

 

And while major renovations aren’t usually recommended don’t hesitate to elevate the interior such as touching up the paint, especially if your walls are cracking or peeling. 

Staging implies choosing furniture and decor that elevates the style of your property based on the current trends and what buyers are looking for. It usually comes at a cost, but it does increase the chances of your property selling faster and at a higher value.
